We count visits to this website so we can see how it is being used. The counting is done on our own systems rather than by an advertising network, and it does not use cookies or store anything on your device.

For each page view we record the page address, the website or search engine you arrived from, your device type and browser, the country the visit came from, and a short code that lets us tell one visit from another on the same day. That code is made by combining your IP address, your browser details and a random number that changes every day and is deleted the next day, so once a day has passed the records can no longer be connected to you or your device. Your IP address itself is never stored.

We keep these statistics for up to two years. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used and keeping it working properly.

This website has no contact form. If you ring us or email us, we use your details to answer you and to carry out any work you go on to ask us for, and we keep them for as long as we are dealing with you and for a reasonable period afterwards. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

The Checkatrade score shown on this site is loaded from Checkatrade when the page opens, which means Checkatrade receives your IP address and may set its own cookies on your device. That is covered by Checkatrade’s own privacy policy. You can block third-party cookies in your browser settings.

Our website is built and hosted for us by Jefferis Software Solutions. As with any website, the servers keep short-term technical logs, which can include IP addresses, so that faults and abuse can be investigated. These logs are held by our hosting provider for a short period and are not used to identify visitors.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. It is handled by the suppliers who run this website and our email for us, and it is disclosed further only where the law requires it.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we are using it. Write to info@northstarenergy.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
